The challenge was inspired by Mimoco’s co-branded Star Wars™ MIMOBOT Series that includes such characters as Darth Vader Unmasked and Stormtrooper Unmasked that employ removable helmet caps exposing not only the USB plug beneath but one of two variant face designs. Mimoco is providing the MIMOBOT Helmet template at http://mimoco.com/infectious with mask feature for artists to use in the design process. After public voting ends on July 29th, the top twenty designs will move into the finals where select judges will choose the three winners to be produced as runs of MIMOBOT designer USB flash drives.
“We’re always blown away by the volume of entries we receive and the quality of the submissions,” said Evan Blaustein, CEO and Founder of Mimoco. “The last community challenge with Infectious was a huge success and we’re anticipating even more entries this year – it’s definitely exciting to see what the artists come up with in the spirit of competition.”
Also new on June 10th, Mimoco is unveiling two ’bots that were runners-up in the last Infectious x MIMOBOT Design Challenge, Mictlantecuhtli by Julio E Carrillo and Marvin the Pirate by Jacopo Rosati. Mictlantecuhtli and Marvin were favorites among the judges and both designs will be offered as MIMOBOT flash drives in 2GB to 16GB capacity, and also as iPhone and laptop skins as well. The products can be purchased at http://mimoco.com and at select stores worldwide.
